•SCC Online is Southeast Community College's credit and continuing education courses via the Internet (online)
• SCC Online offers students the opportunity to complete college courses at home via the internet. SCC Online courses follow the college calendar and begin each July, October, January, and March.
• SCC students find the convenience of completing course work during daytime hours, overnight hours and during weekends to be compatible with their work and home schedules, however the courses are not self-paced and run the full length of each term.
•Currently, SCC offers nearly 180 courses online per term. Additionally several programs are offered online, Please click on our link above left to see the exciting opportunities SCC Online has to offer.
• SCC rounds out their online offerings with other college services online including admissions, advising, tutoring, the bookstore and the college library system.
How to Login, View, Complete Exams and Make the Best Use of Your Online Classroom Experience

1.Check to make sure that you're entering your SCC ID number correctly when logging in to your online course(s).
Use your SCC ID number for both your username (WebCT ID) and for your password. Be sure that you do not include any zeroes at the beginning of your SCC ID number. And, do not include any extra characters or spaces. Be sure that your keyboard's "Caps Lock" key is not on.
2. Be sure that you've completed the "browser check/syllabus" quiz in each of your online classes.
If you haven't yet completed the "browser check/syllabus" quiz (in each of your online classes), you won't be able to see much of the content your instructor has provided.
3. Check your web browser's pop-up blocker.
Generally, the pop-up blocker from Google will not interfere with your ability to work within your online classes. However, other pop-up blockers may result in error messages. If that is the case, please disable the pop-up blocker while you work in your online course or set all pop-up blockers to allow new windows to open at this web address: webct.southeast.edu
4. Make sure your web browser is set to accept 'cookies.'In Internet Explorer, use Tools --> Internet Options from the pull-down menu. Click "Security" and make sure the security setting is set to "Medium." Please note that SCC does not collect or store any data from your web browser--the 'cookie' is only used to authenticate your user name and password during the log in process.
5. Check for spyware, adware and viruses.
Spyware, adware, and viruses can interfere with your ability to see content, complete exams, and submit assignments in your online classes. If your computer has commercial (purchased) protection software such as Norton Antivirus/Antispyware, please make sure that you have the software set to receive the latest program updates. If you prefer to download and install free antispyware, antiadware, and antivirus software, SCC OnLine recommends that you download and install these software products:

6. Tune-up your web browser to remove and/or prevent spyware and browser "hijacks."
For Internet Explorer, here are the steps to give your web browser a quick tune-up:
a. launch Internet Explorerb. Use
Tools -->
Internet Optionsc. Click "
Delete Cookies" (wait for the process to occur)
d. Click "
Delete Files" (wait for the process to occur)
e. Click "
Clear History" (wait for the process to occur)
f. Click "
OK" then close Internet Explorer
g. Wait a few seconds then
launch IE again and access your course

If your computer is infected with a "parasite" that causes problems with your web browser, you'll see information about how to remove it.
7. Check your computer's firewall.
If you're running a "firewall" program (such as Norton Personal Firewall), make sure it's not blocking your access to the online class. The standard Windows XP firewall generally will not interfere with your computer's ability to access your course.
8. Obtain a Java update in order to view PowerPoint presentations and to use the HTML Editor and the Equation Editor.
If the HTML editor and/or the Equation Editor do not function or you see a red "X" on your screen, please follow these steps:
a. Disable software that blocks pop-up windows or set your pop-up blocker to allow new windows to open at this web address: webct.southeast.edu
b. Install a Java update.
To automatically update Java software (Windows users), please use the first link provided below. To download Java software for manual installation later (Windows, Linux, etc.), use the second link. If you choose the second option, be sure to locate the file after it's been downloaded and complete the installation as soon as possible.
