Overview

Assisted Living Administrator (AL) Focus:

This specific track allows an individual to operate an assisted living facility. Effective January 1, 2005, an Assisted-Living Facility Administrator must have successfully completed training consisting of a total of at least 30 hours in the following areas:

  • Resident Care and Services
  • Social Services
  • Financial Management
  • Administration
  • Gerontology
  • Rules, Regulations and Standards relating to the Operation of an Assisted-Living Facility

SCC offers the Introduction to Assisted Living Course, HMRS 2550, which is approved by Nebraska Health and Human Services and meets the education requirements for Assisted Living Administrators in the State of Nebraska.

Verification of initial training completed must be submitted to Health and Human Services. Health and Human Services will maintain a registry of persons who have met the initial training requirements.

What is an Assisted Living Administrator?

An operating officer of an assisted-living facility and includes a person with a title such as administrator, chief executive officer, manager, superintendent, director, or other similar designation.

What is assisted living?

Assisted living is part of a long-term care continuum that provides housing as well as personal care and wellness services. The assisted living philosophy embraces resident dignity and autonomy. Services are individually tailored to support the care needs of those challenged by disability or the affects of aging while maintaining a maximum level of independence. Assisted living services do not include the intense medical and nursing care provided in other long-term care settings, such as nursing homes or home health agencies.
