The Diesel Technology-Farm Program stays in harmony with the changes that are taking place in the farming industry and incorporating these new technological advances into our program is what makes our graduate a cut above the rest.
Electronics is invading all phases of the farming industry. And our students are learning basic electronics and its application to farm machinery. In addition, our students are instructed on the latest innovations in hydraulics, power trains, engines, and fuel injection.
The Diesel Technology – Farm Program is a six quarter (18 month) program. The student is on campus in lecture/lab courses during five of those six quarters. The fourth quarter involves a unique opportunity for the student to demonstrate the knowledge he/she has learned on campus at a Cooperative Education work station. During this Cooperative Education experience the student is paid; helping offset the costs of college.
All tuition, fees, books, required tools, and related costs are the responsibility of the student. See estimated cost list.
The Diesel Technology – Farm Program at Southeast Community College is fully accredited by the State of Nebraska and by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
Upon successful completion of the program the student will be awarded an Associate of Applied Science Degree.
Program Mission Statement:
The mission of the Diesel Technology - Farm Equipment program is to prepare individuals for employment as high quality entry-level agricultural equipment service technicians in agricultural equipment dealerships.
The Diesel Technology-Farm Program Goals:
Students at Southeast Community College are employed by area businesses and industries and have the opportunity to "learn whle doing" through the College's Cooperative Education Experience.
Students will work in positions related to their career goals. Student objectives are established through mutual agreement by the student, the employer, and the cooperative education experience coordinator.
Progress is evaluated at designated time(s) during the period of employment.
How Cooperative Education Works
Southeast Community College's Cooperative Education Experience is designed for students who have completed specific courses in their program of study and have achieved a grade point average of at least 2.0 on a scale of 4.0.
Coordinators work closely with employers and students to determine the optimum Cooperative Education arrangement.
The student registers for the Cooperative Education Experience and earns college credit while being paid a salary for the cooperative experience; the salary is set by the employer and agreed upon by the student.
