The Diesel Technology-Truck Program

Welcome

The Diesel Technology-Truck Program is designed for today's student. Industry's highest standards and exact procedures are followed throughout the program. In fact, the program is ASE Certified by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence.

The student is trained in all phases of Over-the-Road truck repair including electrical/electronic systems, engines, power trains, suspension and steering, brake systems, hydraulics, and preventative maintenance.

During the student's training, one quarter will be spent working in an actual repair shop. Wages earned during this Cooperative Education training period can be used to offset the student's educational costs.

  • We invite you to learn more about what this program has to offer.

  • Please contact us if you have any additional questions.

Overview

The Diesel Technology – Truck Program is a six quarter (18 month) program. The student is on campus in lecture/lab courses during five of those six quarters. The fifth quarter involves a unique opportunity for the student to demonstrate the knowledge he/she has learned on campus at a Cooperative Education work station. During this Cooperative Education experience the student is paid; helping offset the costs of college.

All tuition, fees, books, required tools, and related costs are the responsibility of the student. See estimated cost list.

The Diesel Technology – Truck Program at Southeast Community College is fully accredited by the State of Nebraska and by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. And the program is ASE certified.

Upon successful completion of the program the student will be awarded an Associate of Applied Science Degree.

Cooperative Education

Students at Southeast Community College are employed by area businesses and industries and have the opportunity to "learn whle doing" through the College's Cooperative Education Experience.

Students will work in positions related to their career goals. Student objectives are established through mutual agreement by the student, the employer, and the cooperative education experience coordinator.
Progress is evaluated at designated time(s) during the period of employment.

How Cooperative Education Works

Southeast Community College's Cooperative Education Experience is designed for students who have completed specific courses in their program of study and have achieved a grade point average of at least 2.0 on a scale of 4.0.

Coordinators work closely with employers and students to determine the optimum Cooperative Education arrangement.

The student registers for the Cooperative Education Experience and earns college credit while being paid a salary for the cooperative experience; the salary is set by the employer and agreed upon by the student.

Cooperative Education Benefits

  • A unique opportunity to apply what is learned on campus to "Real World" situations in the student's sponsoring dealership.
  • The student will earn a wage which will help offset college expenses.
  • Regular Coop Ed visitations by program instructors to insure Student Success.
  • Good Student Coop Ed experience + Good Sponsor Coop Ed experience = Full Time Employment
