Employment of medical assistants is expected to grow faster than the average for all occupations through the year 2010 as the health services industry expands due to technological advances in medicine, and a growing and aging population. According to the Bureaus of Labor Statistics, the medical assisting profession is one of the fastest growing professions today.
The medical assistant is an essential link between the doctor and the patient providing support services in a variety of skill areas. The medical assisting program includes instruction in office patient care procedures and basic laboratory techniques. The student also learns office practices and receptionist/secretarial duties related to a medical environment.
A medical assistant is an integral member of the healthcare delivery team. The many different roles that are assumed in the medical assisting profession assure a fast moving and challenging career.
We invite you to learn more about what this program has to offer.
Please contact us if you have any additional questions.
The SCC Medical Assisting Program is a four quarter program. There is an option to complete the program in six quarters. The student is on campus participating in lecture and lab courses during three of the four quarters. The last quarter involves the unique opportunity for the students to demonstrate the skills that they have learned in a clinical education experience.
All tuition, fees, books, uniforms, required equipment, and related costs are the responsibility of the student.
The Medical Assisting Program at SCC is fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org) upon recommendation of the Curriculum review Board of the American Association of Medical Assistants Endowment (AAMAE).
Commission on accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, 1361 Park Street, Clearwater, FL 33756, 727-210-2350.
