Major Appliance Professional Technology

Welcome

Major Appliance Technicians service, maintain, troubleshoot and repair major home appliances including ranges, refrigerators, washers and dryers.

Today’s home appliances utilize state-of-the-art technology and sophisticated electrical circuitry to reduce their environmental impact and the amount of energy used while improving performance and convenience. Consumers are spending more money on appliances designed to live a long life, and they depend on qualified professionals to service and repair their major appliances as well as to answer their questions about appliance use and care. Qualified Major Appliance Technicians have many opportunities for employment including working for retail businesses, repair shops and wholesalers. Some Major Appliance Technicians work for manufacturers, and others become self-employed business owners.

The Major Appliance Technology profession is a recession-proof field, and these jobs cannot be outsourced to other countries. This industry offers variety, terrific salary potential and opportunity. A major manufacturer has dedicated significant resources to address what they describe as a “critical” shortage of major appliance professionals. They estimate jobs for major appliance professionals and major appliance representatives will grow 50% over the next several years.

SCC ‘s Major Appliance Professional Technology Program is the only credit program of its kind in the entire multi-state region, and students can receive a diploma in as little as nine months for a profession that is in great demand nationwide.

Overview

The Major Appliance Professional Technology Program is a three quarter (nine month) program. Students participate in lecture/lab courses, and hands-on training utilizing the latest state-of-the-art equipment. Current curriculum content is emphasized due to our close industry relationships.
