SCC Computer Programming Teams Place Second, Third at Norfolk
Two teams of students representing Southeast Community College's Computer Programming Technology program placed second and third during the Ninth Annual Nebraska Computer Programming Contest held at Northeast Community College in Norfolk.
The SCC team of Adam Scharp, Ryan Markus, Austen Jacox and Steve Hazelwood, all of Lincoln, placed second, solving five problems in 406 minutes.
The SCC team of Kasy Rasmussen of Fairbury, Haley Hein of Fairbury and Aaron Lingenfelder of Lincoln placed third, solving five problems in 450 minutes.
Thirteen teams participated at the collegiate level, and seven teams participated at the high school level. Each team was given eight programming problems to solve.
Northeast's Computer Information Processing Club hosted the competition.
First place in the collegiate division went to Wayne State College. The team solved seven problems in 727 minutes. Fourth-place went to Western Iowa Tech of Sioux City.
A team from Norfolk High School took first place in the high school division. It solved seven problems in 621 minutes. Teams from Western Christian High School from Hull, Iowa, placed second, third and fourth.
