Two More Student-Athletes Sign to Play Volleyball at SCC

Southeast Community College volleyball Coach Carrie Puhalla has announced the signing of two more student-athletes who will join the Storm for the fall 2009 season.

Sarah Williams of Greeley-Wolbach and Monica Shaw of Lincoln East have signed letters of intent.

Williams is a 5-foot-10-inch middle hitter who helped the Titans to a 24-8 record as a senior and a berth in the Class D-2 State Tournament. Williams entered state with 221 kills, 29 aces and 49 blocks for Coach Todd Beck.

Williams also will play basketball for SCC after averaging 13 points and nearly 10 rebounds per game as a high school senior. She also shot 47 percent from the field.

She was named Honorable Mention All-Class D-2 as a senior and junior, earned third-team All-Goldenrod Conference honors as a senior, and made the Grand Island Independent's All-Heartland Third Team.

Shaw is a 5-foot-7-inch libero who helped the Spartans and Coach Myron Oehlerking reach the Class A State Volleyball Tournament last fall. East lost to Omaha Marian in the first round to finish the season with a 25-11 record and a No. 7 final ranking.
