SCC Softball Signs Two Student-Athletes
Southeast Community College head softball coach Pat Lytle has announced the signing of two student-athletes for the 2009-2010 season.
Cassie Veerhusen of Adams and Cassie Baete-Jobman of Beatrice have recently committed to play for the Storm.
Veerhusen, a 5-foot, 6-inch pitcher/infielder from Freeman High School, earned First-Team All-State honors in basketball this past season.
"Cassie is a versatile player with the ability to play any position on the field," Lytle said. "She will be another strong pitcher for us as well as add depth at catcher. She is an excellent all-around athlete and competitor."
Baete-Jobman, a 5-4 second baseman from Beatrice High School, earned First-Team All-State honors and was named to the Second-Team Super All-State team by the Lincoln Journal Star in 2007. She hit .418 and drove in 26 runs for the Lady Orange during her senior season.
"Cassie (Baete-Jobman) has great range at second base with a quick, accurate arm," Lytle said. "We look for Cassie to give us maturity and leadership that we need to be consistent competitors on the field."
Persons interested in knowing more about SCC's softball program, located on the Beatrice Campus, should contact Lytle at (402) 228-3468 ext. 1364 or by cell at (402) 230-0699.
