Storm Golf Team Finishes 15th at National Tournament
Southeast Community College's men's golf team finished 15th at the 2009 National Junior College Athletic Association Division II Tournament held at Goose Pond Colony in Scottsboro, Ala.
The Storm shot a four-day total of 1234, 82 over par. John A. Logan Community College of Illinois won the team title with a 9-over 1161.
SCC had three individual players in the top 50. The Storm was led by Luke Benford, a freshman from Hampshire, England, who carded rounds of 74-74-78-75 for a 301, 13 over par. Next for SCC was Matt Vineer, another freshman from Hampshire, who finished in a tie for 40th place with a four-day total of 303. Adam Dredge, a freshman from Valentine, rounded out the top-50 SCC golfers by finishing in a tie for 45th place with a 304.
Brandon Schock, a sophomore from Beatrice, and Jordan Wise, a freshman from Lincoln (Northeast High School), rounded out the scoring for SCC.
Southeast was ranked eighth in the final national Division II poll. It was released prior to the national tournament.
