SCC Offering Evening Welding Classes in Deshler
In an effort to combat the anticipated shortage of welders during the next 3-7 years, Southeast Community College is offering evening welding classes at Deshler Public Schools.
Gas Metal Arc Welding I and Gas Metal Arc Welding II are being offered on consecutive nights throughout the fall. GMAW I runs Sept. 9 through Dec. 16, while GMAW II runs Sept. 10 through Dec. 17. Classes run from 6:30-9:30 p.m. both nights.
According to American Welding Society estimates, there will be a significant increase in career opportunities in welding technology during the next 3-7 years. GMAW is more commonly called MIG welding. GMAW is a dominant welding process today because it can join a wide range of materials with high-quality welds at a low cost. GMAW skills are needed for employment, and GMAW equipment is becoming readily available and affordable for farm and ranch use.
Thanks to a partnership between Deshler Public Schools and Reinke Manufacturing Company, Inc., two GMAW classes for adults will be offered this fall in the Deshler Public Schools Industrial Arts Building. Both classes are designed to prepare individuals for employment with plenty of hands-on welding experiences.
After the first class session, all participants in both classes will weld during every class session using the latest welding equipment supplied by Reinke in cooperation with Linweld, Inc. and Miller Electric Company.
For more information about enrolling in these classes, contact the Customized Training Services office at SCC's Continuing Education Center at (402) 437-2508 or 1-800-828-0072 ext. 2508.
