NAPE members work within law enforcement agencies in the state of Nebraska to improve the evidence function of each department by raising the standards of technical expertise. NAPE members support the work of law enforcement officers and the judicial system in Nebraska.

This year's NAPE conference speaker is Bob Doran, the author of the textbook "Evidence and Recovered Property: the Police property Control Function," that has become the standard for property and evidence control throughout North America and many foreign countries.

Doran has taught property and evidence management classes for the past 23 years. He has served as a consultant to numerous police and sheriff's departments throughout the United States and has conducted more than 40 evidence room audits and studies. He has been retained as an expert witness in several federal, civil and criminal cases. His topics will include legal update on civil liability of evidence management, Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act standards for evidence, DNA evidence issues, and hazardous material and devices.
