SCC's Continuing Education Division Holding Leadership Training Workshops
A series of workshops designed to assist anyone who supervises or manages people begins later this month at Southeast Community College's Continuing Education Center.
The four workshops are part of a series titled "Leadership Development." Persons interested can take one, two, three or all four of the classes, all of which will be taught at SCC's Continuing Education Center, 301 S. 68th St. Place, Lincoln.
"This is an excellent series for a variety of reasons," said Amy Chesley, director of SCC's Continuing Education business programs. "Supervisors are very busy people, so we are offering one class per month through the end of the calendar year."
Following is a description of each class:
Supervisor Boot Camp, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24. Statistics indicate that 40 percent of new supervisors fail within the first 18 months on the job. This high-energy, interactive boot camp is designed to provide foundational knowledge and skills to jump-start a successful leadership career. Cost is $209 and includes lunch.
Performance Management Workshop, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29. Learn to build self-awareness and management and social skills to help ensure success. The workshop will build competency in core management skills of interpersonal communication and leadership, including the primary management tasks of conflict resolution and coaching. Cost is $209.
Leader as a Communicator, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Nov. 12. Learn to manage resistance, build commitment, address business issues and lead change. This leadership training class provides the tools with which to manage resistance, build commitment, address business issues and lead change through varied leadership styles. This class is designed for people in leadership positions. Cost is $209.
Teambuilding for Success, 8:30-11:45 a.m. Dec. 2. This workshop is great for team leaders, team members or individuals looking to create a new team to gain skills and knowledge essential to team success. The first half of this fun-filled, activity packed workshop will be devoted to "Real Colors," an instrument that helps people unlock the answers to human behavior and assists them with knowledge essential to working more effectively as a team. Cost is $99.
