Four SCC Students Attend State Phi Beta Lambda Conference
Four Southeast Community College students, all from the Beatrice Campus, attended the Nebraska Phi Beta Lambda Fall Leadership Conference Oct. 5 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's East Campus.
Jo Vostrez and Jacey Shottenkirk of Beatrice, Justin Schultis of Diller (Fairbury High School) and Jamie Theye of Odell (Diller-Odell High School) represented SCC.
The opening general session was presented by Maggie Stine and Frank Romano of Concord Hospitality, Inc., on the topic of working the job market in today's economic climate.
Students participated in various breakout sessions throughout the day on the topics of interviewing, networking and PBL membership activities. They were able to network with business representatives during lunch.
The closing session included a team-building exercise and a keynote talk by Sarah Wirth of Talent Plus on the topic of branding yourself by emphasizing your talents.
PBL is an organization for postsecondary students and is part of a non-profit education association with a quarter million students preparing for careers in business and business-related fields.
