SCC's Enrollment Up More Than 10 Percent For Fall Quarter
Southeast Community College's Board of Governors received another positive enrollment report from administrators during its regular monthly meeting Tuesday.
Enrollment for the Fall Quarter, which began Oct. 5, increased by 1,090 students, or 10.32 percent, from the same time a year ago, according to figures provided by Ted Suhr, vice president for administrative services/resource development.
"This is a wonderful outcome," said Dr. Jack Huck, SCC president. "And the growth is being experienced at all of our locations."
Figures were compiled on Oct. 16, the 10th day of the Fall Quarter and the official census day.
Fall headcount at SCC stands at 11,647, compared to 10,557 a year ago.
FTE, which stands for full-time equivalent, increased 9.82 percent from fall 2008. Combined with a Summer Quarter enrollment report that saw SCC's FTE grow 16.58 percent, the College has experienced an overall spike in FTE enrollment of 12.33 percent.
FTE is a calculation used by the state to determine funding levels per student. In SCC's quarter system, one FTE is equivalent to 45 quarter credit hours for the academic year.
"The inn is becoming increasingly full, but that's a good thing," Huck said. "It is overall a positive outcome for the first two terms."
Fall 2009 - Full-time 6,926; Part-time 4,721 - Total: 11,647.
Fall 2008 - Full-time 6,106; Part-time 4,451 - Total: 10,557.
