Feit was elected to ACCT's Board of Directors, while Garver was elected chair of ACCT's Western Region Nominating Committee.
"It's a real feather in your caps to be representing Southeast Community College at the national level," Dr. Jack Huck, SCC president, said during SCC's monthly Board meeting Oct. 20.
"That's wonderful to have somebody from Nebraska back on the ACCT Board," said Dennis Baack, executive director of the Nebraska Community College Association. "I know it's a sacrifice, but it's very important to have that representation."
SCC Board member Darryl Baker of Beatrice will continue to serve as sergeant-at-arms for the Western Region. Board member Helen Griffin of Lincoln ended her service on the Nominating Committee.
The ACCT is a non-profit educational organization of governing boards representing more than 6,500 elected and appointed trustees who govern approximately 1,200 community, technical and junior colleges in the United States, Canada and England.
Members of the Board of Directors are the voting members of ACCT. The Board establishes policies that supervise, control and direct the affairs of the Association within the limits of, and consistent with, bylaws and resolutions proclaimed by the Senate.
Regional Nominating Committees for the nomination of Directors of the Association are composed of five members each, elected from the Voting Members of that region at caucuses held during the Annual Community College Leadership Congress of the Association. Committee members serve for two years on staggered terms.
