ESL

Lincoln Area ESL Program
English as a Second LanguageThe program consists of a series of classes to provide a strong foundation in fundamental grammar structures, sentence patterns and vocabulary of English. All ESL classes include reading, writing, listening and speaking.

Students who have not previously registered for the SCC ESL program or have been out of class for more than six months must make an appointment for the ESL Orientation.

The ESL series of classes is not a full-time program. SCC does not have the authorization to issue a student visa document (Form I-20) for international students to study ESL. Call the Admissions office at 437-2600 for more information on visa documents.

Class options vary based on location and quarter. Classes that are offered include:

  • 4 levels of beginning English
  • 4 levels of intermediate English
  • 2 levels of advanced English
  • Refugee

    Newcomers Educational Center

    We offer non-credit intermediate-level ESL courses in the areas of

    • Dental Assisting
    • Food Service and Hospitality
    • Medical Laboratory Technician
    • Medication Aide
    • Microcomputer Technology
      (Beginner and Intermediate)
    • Nursing Assistant 

    These courses will offer opportunities for students to explore careers and college programs develop specialized technical vocabulary and become familiar with college faculty facilities, services and academic expectation. Not all courses are offered every quarter. Contact 437-2821 or ygomez@southeast.edu to find out which courses are currently offered.
