Motorcycle Safety Beginning Riders Course


This course is intended for beginning riders and designed to teach safe motorcycle operation. All classes are offered in an accelerated one-weekend format.

One-Weekend Format


Friday Evenings
• Introduction to motorcycling
• Preparing to ride

Saturdays
• Motorcycle familiarization
• Using the friction zone
• Starting and stopping drill
• Shifting and stopping
• Adjusting speed and turning
• Controls-Skills practice
• Cornering
• Matching gears to speed
• Stopping quickly
• Street Strategies

Sundays
• Limited-Space Maneuvers
• Pressing to initiate lean
• Cornering judgment
• Negotiating curves
• Stopping quickly in a curve
• Obstacles and lane changes
• Avoiding hazards

 

Enrollment is limited to 12 students per class.

Tuition: $160

Students must successfully complete both the written and driving exams to receive documentation for the motorcycle endorsement.

Prerequisites:

  • Must be 18 years old and supply a photocopy of Nebraska Operators License or Valid Learners Permit with registration form
  • Have the ability to ride a bicycle

Students must provide their own:

  • Dept. of Transportation approved helmet & eye protection
  • over the ankle footwear
  • long-sleeve shirt or jacket
  • long non-flare denim pants or equivalent
  • full-fingered gloves, preferably leather.

SCC will provide the motorcycles.

All SCC instructional staff is MSF Certified and approved by the State of Nebraska.
