The resources below are of interest to people with disabilities, with particular emphasis on college students and access to higher education and employment issues. 



Disability Related Laws and Resources of Interests to College Students

(Nebraska) Educational Opportunities Beyond High School:
The Educational Opportunities Beyond High School in Nebraska Web Site is designed to aid secondary students in selecting a postsecondary education institution. The site includes a comprehensive listing of postsecondary training and educational programs available in the State of Nebraska. The focus of the listing is to provide information about accommodations and special provisions available to students with special needs.

Students with Disabilities: Preparing for Postsecondary Education: 
The information in this pamphlet, provided by the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) in the U. S. Department of Education, explains the rights and responsibilities of students with disabilities who are preparing to attend postsecondary schools.

Going to College:
This Web site contains information about living college life with a disability. It is designed for high school students. The site provides video clips; activities and resources that can help them get a head start in planning for college. Video interviews with college students with disabilities offer a way to hear firsthand from students with disabilities who have been successful.

A Guide to Disability Rights Law:
This guide provides an overview of Federal civil rights laws that ensure equal opportunity for people with disabilities.

Students.gov  
An official U.S. government web site designed for college students and their families.  The mission of Students.gov is to provide easy access to information students and their families may need,  in one place, from all parts of the government.
 
College Planning Guide for Students and Their Families:
Useful information and tips on preparing for college and becoming a successful applicant for college admission and financial aid.

Access to the Future: Preparing College Students with Disabilities for Careers:
From DO-IT - discusses challenges and opportunities students with disabilities face when pursuing employment. Includes a list of helpful resources.

So You Want to Go Back to School? 
This document, written in July 2008 is a letter from the Asst. Secretary for Education addressed to returning service personnel, particularly those with disabilities.

We Connect Now: 
A Web site created by a college student with a disability. The website has been developed to serve college students with disabilities in an effort to connect and integrate them more as a virtual community with a voice on important issues.

Transitioning Out of High School: A Quick Stats Fact Sheet
Fact sheet discussing issues and potential challenges faced by students with disabilities transitioning from high school to post-secondary education. Includes bibliography of sources.
