Since its beginning, the Southeast Community College Educational Foundation has supported the vitality and growth of SCC to benefit students, staff and the communities the College serves through the development and wise use of financial resources.
The student scholarship program has always been the primary objective guiding the Foundation’s many activities. Initiated in 1978, the scholarship program provided a total of $1,000 for each of SCC’s three campuses that first year. Donor generosity, sound planning and wise investments have fostered tremendous growth from those humble beginnings. Cumulative Scholarship and Awards between 1978 and now exceed 5.3 million dollars.
Foundation donors, many of whom are SCC alumni, have made generous contributions to the scholarship programs for our students. Without their help, many students many would not have been able to realize their dreams of a college education.
SCC's mission is to provide opportunities for growth and development to all students, no matter what their educational goals. The SCC Foundation mission is to offer the financial support necessary to help students who want to reach those goals. Contributions make all the difference to many deserving students.
Thank you so much for supporting the students, their education and the growth and vitality of SCC!
General Scholarship Fund
Intelligent and talented students are a vital resource to society. As the baby boom generation retires at a rapid pace, the demand for highly skilled, highly trained workers also increases.
Many alumni and friends remember how difficult it was for them and their families to meet the financial obligations of attending college. Donors to SCC’s Educational Foundation share a special commitment: to provide Southeast Community College students a valuable educational experience. Providing opportunities for students in and around our service area is a critical step toward fulfilling the needs of a skilled workforce.
Today, with the rising costs associated with a quality education, this is more important than ever. Each gift to the College’s Scholarship Fund represents a level of confidence in the SCC tradition of providing a high-quality education to the men and women who represent our future.
The SCC Scholarship Fund is the most effective way to provide bright, hardworking men and women with the opportunity to experience all that Southeast has to offer.
Make an impact on someone’s life now and in the future by contributing to the SCC Educational Foundation’s Scholarship Fund.
Donate to a Specific Scholarship
There are nearly 300 named scholarships in SCC’s Educational Foundation. Each has its own eligibility criteria, including specific programs, campus locations and award amounts.
Perhaps you know the family, or someone in the family, whose name appears on an SCC scholarship. SCC offers many opportunities to contribute to an existing scholarship or to establish one in your name.
Your gift to support SCC students would make a tangible difference for financially needy students by reducing the amount of money they would otherwise need to borrow.
Other Giving Opportunities
Partnership Fund
With outward migration of senior adults, high school graduates and those seeking better employment, many communities are facing a spiraling decline in economic development and appearance. Many small communities are facing more vacant stores as owners retire or find that there are not enough sales to sustain the business. Reduction in tax-based funding results in services being reduced, which further negatively impacts the quality of life within a community and the chance of attracting new industry.
Small businesses are faced with many of the same challenges facing larger corporations. Taxes, business licenses, accounting, purchasing, personnel, legal, and marketing are just a few of the issues small business owners face every day while still trying to operate and provide quality customer service.
Small businesses will account for most of the new job creation within the nation in the future. It’s critical that communities sustain small businesses and work to increase both the number of small businesses and the number of employees of each small business.
SCC partnerships call for bold steps, out-of-the-box thinking and action in addressing business and community development. SCC could partner with communities and small businesses to sustain and grow existing businesses and create new small businesses within the area. This plan could allow for the expansion of SCC’s entrepreneurial program to communities within its service area. Helping to create new business owners will be the main focus.
Technology Fund
The changes to business and manufacturing brought about by globalization have placed increased pressure on local businesses and manufacturing companies to become more efficient and competitive. To do this, many have invested in new technology and equipment that require higher levels of training. To address the new education and training needs, SCC must continuously transform its instructional programs and technology. In the near future, it is anticipated that technology will change at an ever increasing rate. To retain the best and to provide leadership during the transition, the College must begin now to transform its programs and technology.
The future of SCC’s technical programs will be as promising as your generous financial contributions will support.
