Computer Aided Design Drafting graduates work in many facets within engineering and manufacturing.
Location Offered: Lincoln only
Overview
Welcome to SCC’s Computer Aided Design Drafting program. During the 24-month program, students will learn how to think outside the box as they learn the many responsibilities of designers who are employed in engineering and architectural offices across the nation. Finding solutions to today’s design challenges also is part of SCC’s program. The future of CADD is a world not of paper drawings and printers, but of three-dimensional rapid prototyping plotters capable of creating finished products. Engineering and manufacturing have grown into a single process where the designer at a CADD station will build the structures and products of tomorrow. Drafters of old, with their drafting boards and mechanical pencils creating drawings of buildings, has given way to electronic files communicated on wireless networks to the job site laptop computer for laser-produced floor plans. CADD technicians are professional people working in a specialized environment as communicators and must exhibit good English and speaking skills. Designers operate in a technical field and will use higher levels of math and physics to create new industrial, commercial and business products.
Mission
The mission of the Computer Aided Design Drafting program is to provide training for students in technologically advanced courses as defined by professional computer aided drafting technicians in a select set of business and industry design disciplines.
