Program Requirements & Student Responsibilities
- All prospective students are responsible for scheduling an appointment to take the COMPASS test. ACT scores may be accepted. Applicants must also meet with representatives of the IBEW-Local 265 and meet their entrance requirements to be accepted into the program.
- Students must be a high school graduate or have a GED.
- Students must have completed at least one year of high school Algebra or one post-high school Algebra course with a passing grade.
- Have a valid driver’s license.
- Receive a qualifying score of “5” or higher on the Electrical Trades Aptitude test that has been developed and validated by the American Institutes for Research.
- Attain a minimum grade-point average of 2.0 in program courses to continue.
- Maintain attendance standards according to college policy.
- Participate in all learning activities at the scheduled times.
- Be responsible for program costs: tuition, fees, books and tools.
- Maintain safety practices provided to you by your instructor.
Program Goals
- Provide students with state-of-the art equipment for current technological experiences.
- Provide students with a strong background in the use of the National Electrical Code and Industrial design to successfully prepare for the State Electrical Exam.
- Provide students with a safe learning environment emphasizing good safety practices.
- Provide students with a foundational knowledge and on-the-job experience in residential, commercial and industrial wiring practices.
- Provide students with at least 8,000 hours of on-the-job training during a five-year period.
