Program Requirements & Student Responsibilities

  1. All prospective students are responsible for scheduling an appointment to take the COMPASS test. ACT scores may be accepted. Applicants must also meet with representatives of the IBEW-Local 265 and meet their entrance requirements to be accepted into the program.
  2. Students must be a high school graduate or have a GED.
  3. Students must have completed at least one year of high school Algebra or one post-high school Algebra course with a passing grade.
  4. Have a valid driver’s license.
  5. Receive a qualifying score of “5” or higher on the Electrical Trades Aptitude test that has been developed and validated by the American Institutes for Research.
  6. Attain a minimum grade-point average of 2.0 in program courses to continue.
  7. Maintain attendance standards according to college policy.
  8. Participate in all learning activities at the scheduled times.
  9. Be responsible for program costs: tuition, fees, books and tools.
  10. Maintain safety practices provided to you by your instructor.

Program Goals

  1. Provide students with state-of-the art equipment for current technological experiences.
  2. Provide students with a strong background in the use of the National Electrical Code and Industrial design to successfully prepare for the State Electrical Exam.
  3. Provide students with a safe learning environment emphasizing good safety practices.
  4. Provide students with a foundational knowledge and on-the-job experience in residential, commercial and industrial wiring practices.
  5. Provide students with at least 8,000 hours of on-the-job training during a five-year period.
