SCC works in cooperation with Lincoln, Neb., representatives of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers-Local 265. The IBEW represents more than 780,000 members who work in a variety of fields. SCC’s program has served the construction and manufacturing industries for many years with highly trained graduates. Students are prepared for a career in the commercial and residential electrical construction industry as well as the electrical maintenance of manufacturing equipment.

Overview
Electrical students will receive classroom instruction on many topics. The curriculum is delivered in cooperation with SCC and Nebraska representatives of the IBEW-Local 265. Applicants must meet the stated SCC entrance requirements and meet with representatives of the IBEW-Local 265 to be accepted into the program. Classes for new students start in the Fall Quarter (October). Instruction will be delivered at the IBEW training facility located at 6200 S. 14th St. in Lincoln, Neb. The typical classroom training schedule is 6:30-9:30 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays during the school term, September through May. Students earn a wage and benefit package in accordance with the local collective bargaining agreement. A large percentage of the training will cover the commercial and industrial aspects of electrical construction.
Mission
The mission of the IBEW Construction Electrician program is to provide students with trade-related classroom instruction and on-the-job electrical construction training.
Job Outlook
Average employment growth is expected. Job prospects should be very good, particularly for workers with the widest range of skills, including voice, data and video wiring.
