Program Requirements & Student Responsibilities

  1. Complete and submit the Candidate Application form and return it to SCC’s Lincoln or Milford campuses. Students accepted for this class will be chosen on a first-come, first-served basis.
  2. All applicants are responsible for scheduling an appointment to take the COMPASS test in areas of reading, writing and math. ACT scores may be accepted. Please call the Lincoln/Milford Campus Assessment Office, (402) 761-8202 or 1-800-933-7223, Ext. 8202 or the Lincoln Campus Student Services Office at (402) 437-2600 for an appointment. Students will receive additional information from SCC regarding registration and orientation.
  3. Maintain attendance standards according to college policy.
  4. Follow designated safety procedures while on campus.
  5. Participate in all learning activities at the scheduled times.
  6. Be responsible for program costs: tuition, fees, books and tools.

Program Goals

  1. Provide a broad competency-based curriculum providing the acceptable skill and knowledge of requirements needed for entry-level positions in the machine tool field.
  2. Provide students with the necessary skills to work safely alone or in a team setting.
  3. Provide students with equipment that is up-to-date, accurate and in good condition.
  4. Provide students with the opportunity to develop skills which include critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, and practical reasoning.
  5. Prepare students to enter industry as a skilled, entry-level employee.
