Overview
SCC’s Nondestructive Testing Technology program prepares students for careers in product testing, consulting, and inspection careers in engineering and quality assurance areas of industry. NDT graduates use non-invasive inspection methods such as ultrasound, radiography and many other inspection techniques to look inside a component or structure to determine if the component is acceptable for use or service. NDT is used both as a service as well as being an integral part of manufacturing in many different industries such as aircraft and aerospace, power generation, chemical and petrochemical, bridge and building fabrication/erection, independent testing laboratories, electronics and microelectronics, civilian defense and enlisted military, general manufacturing companies, historical renovation, infrastructure construction and maintenance, automotive, rail, marine, and large ship construction.
Mission
The mission of the Nondestructive Testing Technology program is to prepare individuals for employment as high-quality entry-level technicians within the many diversified industries that NDT serves.
