Program Requirements
Program Prerequisites
  • The program has identified specific General Education and prerequisite courses that must be completed with a minimum grade of 75% (C+) prior to entry into the program.
  • Required courses may be earned at SCC or any college as long as they meet the approval of SCC transfer requirements and program curriculum.
Special Program Prerequisites
  • Current CPR certification for Health Care Providers (or Professional Rescuer)
  • Review of Careers in Radiology Website
  • Job Shadowing
  • Successful completion of a Criminal Background Check including the Nebraska adult and child abuse registries (CBC executed by SCC).
Program Admission
Students may apply to the program after they begin their last term of prerequisites.
Submit to Admissions:
  • Completed prerequisites tracked on the program's Self-Advising Sheet
  • New application for Radiologic Technology program
  • Completed Health Statement 
  • Website and Job Shadowing documents (Website certification and job shadow verification forms are located in Module #4)
  • Transcripts as needed (check with Admissions)
Students will be placed on the appropriate waiting list and contacted with an anticipated start date upon successful completion of the admission process.

Program Summary
The two-year program is comprised of clinical and didactic courses.  Depending on the clinical site, students are admitted in July and/or January.  The program is offered via the Lincoln track (clinical performed in Lincoln; didactic courses offered in classroom or Web-based) OR the Distance track (clinical performed outside Lincoln; didactic courses offered Web-based).
 
Clinical - Students will use the knowledge learned in the didactic courses, along with skills acquired in lab, to give care to patients or clients at a health care facility.  Clinical rotations may include hospitals, rural rotations, clinics, and rehabilitation institutions.  Students will gain experience in radiology, surgery and emergency care interacting with a range of patients from ambulatory to critically ill to trauma.  The majority of clinical hours will be daytime, but there are evening and weekend rotations.
 
Student Responsibilities in the Program
  • Complete all program courses with a minimum grade of 75% (C+)
  • Maintain current CPR certification and immunizations
  • Play an active role in their education process
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding health and personal information of patient and abide by HIPAA guidelines
  • Follow all safety requirements
  • Maintain appropriate professional conduct in clinical and didactic settings
  • Possess computer skills and have Internet access
  • Know contents of SCC Student Handbook for program and College
  • Online students must attend a two-day workshop on the Lincoln, Nebraska Campus each year of the program
