Program Requirements & Student Requirements
- Students should have a great desire to be involved in the welding field.
- Complete and submit an Application for Admission form and return it to SCC, or apply online.
- All applicants are responsible for scheduling an appointment to take the COMPASS test at the campus Testing Center. ACT scores may be accepted. For questions about applications or for a campus tour of SCC, contact the Lincoln or Milford campus Admissions Office.
- Maintain attendance standards according to college policy.
- Follow designated safety procedures while on campus.
- Participate in all learning activities at the scheduled times, and complete and submit required assignments and projects by the required due date.
- Be responsible for program costs: tuition, fees, books and tools.
Program Goals
- Provide a broad competency-based curriculum detailing the acceptable skill and knowledge requirements for training and qualification/certification of entry-level and advanced welders according to nationally recognized welding standards and codes.
- The student will be able to demonstrate the ability to work safely with others, be a contributing member of a team and exhibit exemplary work habits.
- The graduating student will be adequately prepared to compete for a variety of manufacturing jobs requiring technical welding skills that meet industry requirements.
- To provide students with the opportunity to develop skills which include critical thinking, problem solving, creativity and practical reasoning.
