Summer and Mini Camps


Mini Camps

These camps are available when SCC is in session and Lincoln Public Schools are not in session.

Child Care Access Means Parents In School (CCAMPIS) Mini-Camps are available for the children of qualified SCC-Lincoln students.  Scholarships for the cost of the Mini-Camps are provided to SCC students by the U.S. Department of Education Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) Grant.

Southeast Community College-Lincoln is proud to offer new Adventure Mini-Camps for the children of SCC-Lincoln students!  The SCC Child Development Center will provide a safe and enriching environment with age appropriate activities for your child(ren) while you are attending class at SCC-Lincoln.    

    • Educators, trained child care professionals and Early Childhood Education program students will provide leadership and supervision of the camps.  
    • A nutritious lunch and afternoon snack are provided each day of the camps.  
    • The camps operate at the SCC Child Development Center in Room C1 at 8800 “O” Street in Lincoln between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. with full-time and part-time openings. 
  • Age:
    CCAMPIS Adventure Mini-Camps are available for children in kindergarten through fifth grade.
     
    Activities: The Mini-Camps will provide children with a stimulating day of indoor and outdoor,  hands-on learning adventures that are fun and unique.  All campers will engage in developmentally appropriate activities related to each camp theme.  Campers will have time to socialize with friends and build new relationships. 
     
    Eligibility:  
    • The student/parent must currently be enrolled as a full-time or part-time student at SCC-Lincoln.
    • The student/parent enrolled at SCC-Lincoln must be Pell Eligible (as determined by the SCC Financial Aid Office).  
    • Scholarships to fund the cost of the camps are provided through a grant from the U.S. Department of Education CCAMPIS Grant for SCC-Lincoln registered students.
    • Cost: Sliding fee scale with rates starting at $5.00 per day.  Space Limitations: Space is limited to 10 students so early registration is encouraged. 

Application Process:  

    • Students may obtain applications and return them to the Child Development Center in Room C1.  Processing completed applications will require 2-4 weeks, and attempts to notify qualified applicants will be made.    

    • Applicants are also required to complete a personal interview prior to selection for their family’s participation in the Mini-Camps.  The interviewer is Erica Seip, CCAMPIS Grant Program Coordinator.  

Dates Camps Available:
Mini-Camps began in January of 2006.  They are available when SCC is open and classes are in session but Lincoln Public Schools are not open.  SCC reserves the right to cancel a Mini-Camp if the College closes due to an unexpected event such as a snow closing. A list of available Mini-Camp dates is located in the Child Development Center in Room C1.

Summer Camps

Fun & Educational Experiences for Kids age 6-11.

Registration
Register for camps of your choice. Space is limited so early registration is encouraged. If a camp is filled, you may be put on a waiting list (no deposit is required). SCC reserves the right to cancel camps with inadequate registration.

1. Please complete a registration form and mail or bring it with your deposit fee to the:

(Monday - Friday 7:30 am - 5:30 pm)

2. The deposit fee is required to register each child for each camp. Deposits are applied to the camp fee and are not refundable.

3. Full payment (minus deposit fee paid for that camp) is due 7 days prior to each camp the child will attend.


Scholarships
Scholarships are available for SCC registered student/parents to help cover the cost of the camp fee(s). Please apply at registration. Scholarships are provided by the U.S. Department of Education CCAMPIS Grant.

Camp Hours • 9 am - 4 pm
Campers may be dropped off at the Center between 7:30-9 am and picked up between 4-5:30 pm.
 
Food
A nutritious lunch and afternoon snack are provided each day.

Leadership
Educators, trained child care professionals and Early Childhood Education program students provide leadership and supervision. Focus activities are led by qualified, knowledgeable specialists in that field of emphasis.

Grouping
Children are grouped according to age
(i.e. ages 6-8; ages 9-11) and have a teacher/pupil ratio of approximately 1-10.

Activities
Our camps emphasize safe summer fun while enriching the camper’s prior educational knowledge. All campers will be engaging in developmentally appropriate activities related to each camp focus. As a part of camp the children will have the opportunity to participate in the Summer Reading program through the city libraries as we will visit one library per week. Another part of our regular activity will be swimming at the city pools, bowling, and roller skating. Campers will also be participating in games and crafts related to the weekly themes. Campers will have time to socialize with friends and build new relationships.

Campers will be participating in one or more field trips per camp and may be off campus multiple times during the week. Due to the extent of our field trips and craft activities, a $10 activity fee is built into the camp fee.
