Daughter of Jack and Beth Hoffman. Business Administration major. Two-year Class C Academic All-State selection. Honorable Mention Class C by Lincoln Journal Star and Omaha World-Herald. Helped Friend win the Central 8 Conference championship. Named to the Second Team all-Central 8 Conference in volleyball.

#3 Monica Shaw - 5-8 Fr. Libero - Lincoln, NE

Daughter of Larry and Rita Shaw. Nursing major. Helped Spartans of Lincoln East win the district title and qualify for the Class A State Tournament in volleyball. East lost to Omaha Marian in the first round to finish the season with a 25-11 record and a No. 7 final ranking. Earned an academic athlete award.

#4 CeCe Catlett - 5-7 Soph. Setter - Bruning, NE

Daughter of Jerry and Jill Catlett. Academic Transfer major. A team captain for 2009. Omaha World-Herald Honorable Mention All-Nebraska Team. Said Coach Puhalla: “CeCe is the leader of the team, and play will revolve around her. She is one of the returning starters and the only one who stays on the court at all times. I am confident that CeCe will be able to handle all of the responsibilities that she will have this year. She hustles after everything and is an extremely hard worker. I just love to watch her play.”  Played at Bruning-Davenport High School.

#5 Meghan Walters - 6-0 Soph. Middle Hitter - Villisca, IA

Daughter of Dave and Julie Walters. Agribusiness livestock major. Another returning starter for the Storm. Said Coach Puhalla:  “Meghan worked hard in the off-season to become quicker along the net. She is a vital part of the team, and I hope she lives up to the challenge that (assistant) coach (Angie Johanesson) and I have set for her.” Played at Clarinda (Iowa) High School.

#6 Britney Konicek - 5-5 Soph. Defensive Specialist - West Point, NE

Daughter of Camie Konicek and Brad Konicek. Academic Transfer major. Returning sophomore who will be used as a defensive specialist this season. Said Coach Puhalla: “Britney has worked extremely hard in the off-season to get where she is today. She deserves her spot, and I hope she’ll continue to work hard throughout the season.”  Played at Howells High School.

#7 Amanda Geib - 5-9 Fr. Outside Hitter - Fairfax, MO

Daughter of Howard and Alisa Geib. Agribusiness major. Honorable Mention all-Class 1A, First-Team All-Region, unanimous First-Team All-275 Conference choice, was named to the first team of the All-Coaches District Team and was a unanimous first-team selection to the All-Media District Team, all while playing for Fairfax High School. Helped the Bulldogs to a 22-8 overall record, including a 7-0 mark to win the conference championship. Fairfax was district champion and eventually lost in the quarterfinal round of sectionals. Said Coach Puhalla: “She is an amazingly strong athlete and is very quick. I love Amanda's work ethic. She works very hard at what she does, and she doesn't give up on anything. I'm so excited for Amanda to be a part of our team.”

#8 Lisa Vanderhoof - 5-8 Fr. Setter - Villisca, IA

Daughter of Jeff and Amy Vanderhoof. Education major. Unanimous pick for First-Team All-Corner Conference honors playing for Villisca High School, and was named to the Second-Team All-Western Iowa by the Omaha World-Herald. She also has several post-season honors in basketball and softball, including Second-Team All-Corner Conference in basketball as a junior. She plans to play basketball as well for SCC. Presented the U.S. Marine Corps Distinguished Athlete Award. Earned 21 varsity letters in high school. Said Coach Puhalla: “Lisa is a great server and has a really good arm swing. She is one of those players who I will be able to use anywhere. She is an incredibly hard worker and a heads-up player.”

#9 Courtney Weak - 6-3 Fr. Middle Hitter - Hastings, IA

Daughter of Roger and Lisa Weak. Academic Transfer major. Named Second-Team All-Corner Conference, First-Team All-Mills County, and Honorable Mention All-Western Iowa by the Omaha World-Herald while playing for East Mills High School in Malvern, Iowa.  Honorable Mention All-Corner Conference selection as a junior. Said Coach Puhalla: “She will be a great asset to our team. She can pass, has a great serve, is great at blocking and can hit the ball. I am glad to make her a part of the team, and I hope she gets more aggressive as the season progresses.”

#10 Carly Morehead - 6-0 Soph. Middle Hitter - Fairbury, NE

Daughter of Jim and Sherry Morehead. Radiologic Technology major. A team captain for 2009. All-Region IX selection as a freshman. Also chosen for the All-Region IX Tournament Team. Omaha World-Herald Honorable Mention All-Nebraska Team. Said Coach Puhalla: “She is a great asset to our team. She is one of three returning starters we’ll rely heavily on this year.” Played for Fairbury High School.

#12 Taylor Berry - 6-0 Fr. Middle Hitter - Lincoln, NE


Daughter of Don and Lynette Berry. Undecided on a major. Honorable Mention All-State Class A as a freshman, sophomore and junior at North Star High School. Earned All-City honors as well.

#13 Sarah Williams - 5-10 Fr. Outside Hitter - Greeley, NE

Daughter of Brad and Connie Williams. Academic Transfer major. Helped Greeley-Wolbach Titans to a 24-8 record as a senior and a berth in the Class D-2 State Tournament. Entered state with 221 kills, 29 aces and 49 blocks for Coach Todd Beck. Plans to also play basketball for SCC after averaging 13 points and nearly 10 rebounds per game as a high school senior. She also shot 47 percent from the field. Honorable Mention All-Class D-2 as a senior and junior, Third-Team All-Goldenrod Conference as a senior, and made the Grand Island Independent's All-Heartland Third Team. Academic All-State in basketball.

#14 Jamie Theye - 5-11 Fr. Outside Hitter - Diller, NE

Daughter of Daylon and Kay Theye. Academic Transfer (Business Administration) major. Likely will play on the right side for the Storm. Said Coach Puhalla: “Jamie has been very quiet so far, but I am looking forward to her being a good leader on the court. She came in and started working hard in the weight room and on the court, which has benefitted her. She is playing better than I had anticipated, which makes me extremely happy. Look for big things from Jamie this year.” Played at Diller-Odell High School.
