Learn to Dream Scholars
Learn to Dream Scholarship Program Information:
A quality college education changes lives every day. It opens doors to a promising career and a fulfilling life many current high school students don’t think is possible. For low-income students in Southeast Community College’s 15-county district, the dream of a college education can be a reality through the exciting Learn to Dream Scholarship. The scholarship was established to create an opportunity for every economically disadvantaged high school student graduating from a public or private high school in SCC’s 15-county district to further their education by attending SCC in Beatrice, Lincoln or Milford. Students are made aware of the Learn to Dream Scholarship opportunity beginning in the eighth grade. They work with their guidance counselor to take courses that will prepare them to become successful SCC students.

How does it work?
Students who qualify will be able to take 45 quarter credit hours (approximately one year) at SCC without having to pay for tuition and fees. Once enrolled at SCC, the student must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade-point average to remain eligible. Eligible students in 11th or 12th grade may enroll in “dual credit” courses that provide credit at both the high school and SCC. The scholarship will pay the tuition and fees, and these courses shall count toward the 45 quarter credit hours available to each student.

All graduating high school seniors in SCC’s 15-county district who qualify for a free or reduced price lunch (as defined by the U.S. Department of Agriculture) are eligible for the scholarship.
