    Homestead National Monument:
     Southeast Nebraska's only national park. Learn about the impacts the Homestead Act had on the U.S. and the world. Experience the monument's unique features, including the award-winning Heritage Center, the Palmer-Epard Cabin, a 100-acre tall-grass prairie, the Education Center, and the Freeman School. There is no entrance fee. All programs and events are free. Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. From Memorial Day through Labor Day: 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

     Beatrice Community Hospital (25-bed critical access hospital with 18 active medical staff and about 100 consulting, affiliate and courtesy medical staff). There are three out-patient clinics, 25 physicians or physician's assistants, 12 dentists, 303 nurses, six optometrists or ophthalmologists, and three veterinarians.
    Library: The Beatrice Public Library provides a variety of services, including books, videos, DVDs, audio books, free Internet search service, periodicals, genealogy, and local history collections.
