The dust is settling, and the noise is slowly subsiding.
It's almost time to open the doors.
Southeast Community College will hold a grand opening and
ribbon-cutting ceremony Aug. 21 for the newest addition to its
Lincoln Campus: a welcome center/classroom addition.
The public is invited to attend the event at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 21
at the 8800 O St. campus. There will be a short ceremony, a ribbon
cutting, activities, tours, and refreshments.
Dr. Jack Huck, SCC president, said the addition will provide a
larger space for key College services, including admissions,
financial aid, registration, and bill-paying, as well as additional

A welcome center, a "one-stop" student services center, nine
classrooms, and a large multipurpose room occupy the majority of
the upper level. Seven classrooms, a computer lab and faculty/staff
office space have been added to the lower level. The addition was
built on to the existing structure near the Business Administration
Construction on the 65,000 square-foot addition, called the V
Section, began about 14 months ago. SCC's Board of Governors
awarded the project to Cheever Construction Company of Lincoln. The
project's cost is around $7 million and was paid for out of the
College's capital improvement fund.
More than 400 additional parking spaces also were added.
