Community College’s Board of Governors today named four finalists in the search
to succeed current President Dr. Jack Huck, who is retiring in June 2014.
Dale Kruse, Board treasurer and chair of the Presidential Search Committee,
said the finalists are Dr. Hank Dunn, Ivan Gorne, Dr. Dennis Headrick, and Dr.

Dunn serves as the president of Asheville-Buncombe
Technical Community College in Asheville, N.C. He previously served as the
chancellor of Ivy Tech Community College-Central Indiana Region in
Indianapolis, Ind. He earned an Associate of Arts degree in General Studies
from Indian River Community College, Florida; a Bachelor of Arts degree in
History and Education from the University of Florida; a Master of Education
degree in Guidance and Counseling from Florida Atlantic University; and a
Doctor of Education degree in Higher Education Administration from the University
Gorne serves as the vice president for student
services, facilities and operations at Bates Technical College in Tacoma, Wash. He previously served as the vice
president for student services at Highline Community College in Des Moines, Wash. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary
Social Science Education and a Master of Arts degree in Counseling and Student
Personnel Administration from Pacific Lutheran University, Washington, and a Juris Doctorate for the University of
Puget Sound School of Law, Washington.
Headrick serves as the vice president for
instruction at Southeast Community College. He previously served as the vice
president for instruction and Beatrice Campus director at SCC. He earned an
Associate of Arts degree in Business Administration from SCC, a Bachelor of
Arts degree in Business Education from the University of Nebraska at Kearney, a
Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Nebraska-Omaha,
and a Doctor of Philosophy in Education Administration degree from the
University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Illich serves as the vice president for research,
planning and information technology at McLennan Community College in Waco,
Texas. He previously served as the senior director of institutional effectiveness
and planning at McLennan Community College. He earned an Associate of Arts
degree from Blinn College, Texas; a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology
from Texas State University, Texas; and a Master of Science and Doctor of
Philosophy degrees in Experimental Psychology from Texas A&M University.

Kruse said each presidential finalist will
participate in an open public forum at each of SCC’s three campuses the week of
Dec. 2. The forum schedule will be released later this week.
