Some learn skills in new fields, others learn new techniques and technologies for their current jobs. All can be more productive back in their workplaces. Most Industry and Trades classes can be customized to meet the specific needs of an individual company. Collectively the Training Solutions team has over 65 years of experience in designing, developing and delivering customized training programs. Trades & Industry Class Schedule (July-December 2015) Automotive Machining An advanced automotive engine course that encompasses the machining operations to perform a major overhaul and reconditioning of the cylinders, pistons and rings, rod re-conditioning, bearings and crankshaft.At the top of the page, click Class Schedule for current class schedule. Automotive Restoration & Collision Repair This is a 15 hour open lab/shop course designed to teach the basics of dent repair, metal fabrication and the use of plastic fillers.At the top of the page, click Class Schedule for current class schedule. Boilers Operation and High Pressure Power Engineering Also known as power plant or boiler operators and operating, steam and stationary engineers, the power engineer is a technically skilled professional who is responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of equipment such as pumps, gas compressors, generators, motors, boilers, steam turbines, air conditioning systems, heat exchangers, and refrigeration equipment. Power engineers find employment in power generation plants, industrial facilities and residential and commercial buildings, where they operate and maintain the equipment that provides heat, light, climate control, and power. This 24-week course is comprised of instructor-led classroom sessions, computer lab sessions and Internet-based self-study activities which have been selected to prepare students for the national certification exams of the National Institute for the Uniform Licensing of Power Engineers (http://www.niulpe.org) High Pressure Engineering – Lincoln, NE (September 29, 2015-March 31, 2016) Confined Space Safety Training The Occupational Safety and Health Administration reports more than 13,000 American workers are injured annually in confined space accidents, 5,000 of those seriously. A confined space is defined as an area that is big enough to permit one person to enter, has limited means of entrance and exit and is not designed for human occupancy. OSHA Regulation No. 1910.146 requires employees to be trained on confined-space entry standard as a key step in maintaining employee health and safety. Electrical & Pneumatics In addition to a thirty-hour National Electric Code test preparation class, the following eight three-day industrial automation workshops are offered Advanced PLC’s Industrial Measurements, Sensors & Controls Basic Programmable Logic Controllers Mechanical Systems Electrical Fundamentals Motor Controls & Relay Logic Fundamentals of Pneumatics Variable Frequency Drives Fiber Optics These three fiber optics classes are recognized for BICSI continuing education credits: Certified Fiber Optics Technician, Fiber Optics Test & Maintenance Specialist, Fiber Optics Splicing Specialist. Fiber Optics – Lincoln, NE (September 21-27, 2015) Forklift Operations This four-hour course for all operators includes safety inspections, design restrictions, lifting, moving and placing loads, driving speeds, directions and ramps. Gas Metal Arc Welding An introduction and intermediate to advanced instruction to Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) theory, safety, applications, manipulative skills, welding principles and procedures. Gas Metal Arc Welding I (Steel) – Deshler, NE (September 14-December 7, 2015) Gas Metal Arc Welding – Falls City, NE (July 14-August 15, 2015) Gas Metal Arc Welding II (Aluminum) – Deshler, NE (September 16-December 9, 2015) Lead Renovator This is an initial eight-hour lead renovator training for contractors and employees required by the United States Environmental Protection Agency to protect children during renovation, repair and painting activities that disturb lead-based paint. Machine Tool SCC offers both basic and advanced eight-week evening classes twice a year on the Milford Campus. Basic Precision Machining – Milford, NE (July 15-September 9, 2015) Advanced Precision Machining – Milford, NE (July 15-September 9, 2015) Nebraska Finishing Technologies Certification Program Industrial and commercial spray painters and finishers will boost their skills by receiving real-time feedback on transfer efficiencies only possible through the use of state-of-the-art virtual reality technology. In addition to this hands-on training, classroom training on the topics required by Federal EPA rule 40 CFR Part 63, Subpart HHHHHH (6H) will be provided. Participants successfully completing both parts of this workshop will receive a certificate documenting their completion of the training requirements of Subpart 6H. Nebraska Finishing Technologies – Lincoln, NE (August 15, September 19, October 17, November 21, or December 12, 2015) Refrigeration and Air Conditioning SCC offers three levels of instruction in refrigeration and air conditioning. SCC is an exam site for EPA Section 608 Certification and is offered once a year in June. Small Engines This is a 15-hour open shop class designed for students to work on projects brought from home and approved by the instructor. A great parent/teen activity!
