Choral Scholarship Information

Important information about the SCC Choral Music Scholarship

The SCC Choral Music Scholarship was established in 2013 to show strong support of our music program and to encourage talented and committed singers to participate in our choir for an entire choral season. The SCC Choral Music Scholarship pays for three-fourths tuition for up to 25 singers who commit to give their best to the SCC Choir and music program for three consecutive quarters (Fall, Winter and Spring).

    Scholarship criteria:

    • The scholarship will be awarded in three quarterly installments of $500 each.
    • The scholarship will pay for approximately 9 credit hours per quarter.
    • Recipients are required to maintain full-time status (at least 12 hours/quarter), be in good academic standing during the quarters they are awarded the scholarship, and agree to participate fully. This includes attending rehearsals, participating in performances, learning and memorizing music, and purchasing required dress clothing for concerts in the SCC Beatrice Campus Choir for the entire choral season (October through June).
    • Scholarship recipients must be enrolled in a Southeast Community College Program of Study and agree to make their Beatrice Campus choir rehearsals and performances a top priority.
    • Students are further required to maintain a C+ cumulative grade-point average in order to continue to receive the scholarship.
    • Students who successfully fulfill their scholarship responsibilities may re-apply for a second year.

Failure to comply with any of these rules will result in appropriate disciplinary action, up to and including the loss of scholarship funding for one or both of the remaining quarters. Determinations will be made by the music director, Humanities Department co-chairs, and the dean of the Arts and Sciences Division, in collaboration with the offices of Financial Aid and Student Services.

We encourage interested and qualified students to apply for this scholarship early since awards will be made on a first-come, first-served basis.
