PSGT-1020 - Fundamentals of Polysomnograph

This course introduces the student to sleep medicine. Topics will include review of cardiopulmonary regulation, the physiology of normal sleep, normal sleep architecture and transitions, and the fundamental knowledge of various disorders that affect sleep. Fundamental knowledge includes identifying the symptoms, the populations which are most commonly affected, the diagnostic tools used and the treatment options for the following disorders: sleep deprivation, excessive daytime sleepiness, insomnia, parasomnias, movement disorders, circadian rhythm disorders, narcolepsy and lseep related breathing disorders.
