ENER-2135 - Atomic Structures
Prerequisite(s): ENER2102 This course discusses the basis of all matter. Students will be introduced to the fundamentals required to understand the atom and its components: the electron, neutron and proton. We will discuss how atoms are held together in both a stable and unstable condition resulting in various isotopes of the elements. Additional topics include atomic structure, chart of the nuclides, nuclear reactions, mass to energy conversion, industrial and science applications of nuclear processes, radioactive decay, half-life determination, and radioactive interaction with matter.
