Prerequisite: ENER1255 The practical application of flow, temperature, pressure, heat, gases, liquids, solids, fluid systems, heat transfer and their impact on process dynamics are explored in detail. This course will compare fundamental control strategies such as on/off and PID. It will explain the basic components of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and their use in process control. Includes operation of coal and combined cycle plant control systems. Lab must be taken concurrently.
