You will receive your diploma at the ceremony unless you have a financial obligation to the College or if your coursework is incomplete. If you had a student loan while attending SCC, you MUST do an exit interview for Financial Aid before you graduate. This is a federal requirement and your diploma will be held if this is not completed. You may complete this requirement at www.nslds.ed.gov. Please contact Ann Hajek, Associate Director of Financial Aid, at 402-228-8212 if you have any questions.

The gym will be open at 6 p.m. for your family and friends. Guests who need special accommodations should arrive a bit earlier.
CAPS/GOWNS AND REQUIRED GRADUATION INFORMATION SHEET
Caps and gowns can be picked up starting Tuesday, May 30, 2017 in the Registration Office during regular business office hours. Gowns are shipped folded and it is recommended you press them and try them on at home. If your gown is the wrong size for you, come to the Registration Office and we will try to find one that fits. You may keep your cap, gown and tassel. You may want to bring bobby pins to secure your cap.
The SCC Placement Office needs you to complete the Graduation Information Sheet. Complete the Graduate Information Sheet at the time of gown pickup in the Welcome Center. Please contact Shirley Huttenmaier with any questions at 402-228-8216 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
PHI THETA KAPPA
PTK members are eligible to wear special stoles. Contact Carrie Pulhalla at 402-228-3468 ext. 1353 or stop by room K415 in the Kennedy Center. PTK stoles CANNOT be picked up the day of graduation.
Paben Photography will take graduation pictures on June 9, 2017 in the Truman Center. Please be sure to bring your cap and gown with you to rehearsal.
Individual photos will be taken between 12:00-1:30 p.m. AND a graduating class group photo will be taken immediately following practice. Please plan to attend so it will truly be a class picture! All photos must be paid for the day they are taken and will be mailed to you in six weeks. Information on photo package options and prices can be found on the special insert with your cap and gown.
Practice will be at 1:30 p.m., the day of graduation, in the Truman Center. Please arrive on time and remember to bring your cap and gown. It is very important to attend the rehearsal so please be sure to mark this on your calendar!
Graduates need to arrive at the College no later than 6:20 p.m. and should check in at the front of the Truman Center. Lineup begins at 6:40 p.m. in the north and south halls. There is no secure place for purses or other valuable items so leave your personal items with a family member or guest during the ceremony.
The Processional: We proceed to the gym promptly at 6:45 p.m. Stay in the same order in which you will be seated. When you have reached your seat in the gym, remain standing (If there is an empty seat, fill in the gap). Bob Morgan, the Beatrice Campus Director, will ask all graduates to be seated before he begins the Welcome.
The Ceremony: The ceremony will last approximately one hour. Be sure to enter onto the stage by the ramp entrance on the far right side. Wait until your name is read before crossing the stage. You will receive your diploma from a member of the Board of Governors and will then return to your chair.
The Recessional: After the ceremony, the graduates will proceed out of the gym together.

All graduates are required to complete the graduation application. Applications are due by the 10th day of the quarter in which you plan to graduate. You will need to complete a separate application for each degree you are applying for.
CAPS AND GOWNS
All graduates are required to wear academic caps and gowns during the ceremony. Tassels should remain on the right side of the caps until all degrees have been conferred and you are directed to move your tassel.
Caps and gowns will be available for pick up in the Registration and Records Office beginning Monday, May, 25. The cap, gown and tassel are the student's to keep. If you receive an honor or veterans cord at check in, these are also yours to keep after the ceremony.
Announcements are available in the Lincoln Campus Bookstore for 25 cents each.
Commencement is scheduled for Thursday, June 8, 7 p.m. at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Enter through the Graduates Only
entrance on the southeast corner of the arena (next to the Husker Authentic Store). Report to the graduate check-in area on the ground level beginning at 6 p.m. and no later than 6:45 p.m. (see picture of entrances on last page)

Graduates will not be allowed to carry items into the ceremony. There also will be no secure room for purses, coats, etc. Please leave your personal items with friends or family.
When you check in before the ceremony you will receive a name card with your name and chair number. Do not lose this card, you will be required to present this card to the reader during the ceremony.
Graduates are required to remain at the entire ceremony, which will conclude at approximately 8:30 p.m..
FAMILY AND GUESTS
Pinnacle Bank Arena is located at: 400 Pinnacle Arena Drive Lincoln, NE 68508 (Driving Directions)
Family, friends and other guest are invited and may sit in any non-reserved area, other than the main floor, which is reserved for the graduates. No tickets are required to attend the graduation.
Accessible seating for guests is available on the main concourse level of the Pinnacle Bank Arena. The arena drop off area is located on the south side of Pinnacle Bank Arena (R Street).
Free parking is available in the Festival Parking Lot, just north of the arena and in the Pinnacle Bank Arena Garage. Access to the north parking areas is from Sun Valley Blvd. to Line Drive. Follow Line Drive to the parking area. A pedestrian bridge connects the north parking area (Festival Space) to the arena. (see map)
Paid parking is available in the city of Lincoln Public Parking Garages.
Each graduate will receive an empty diploma cover at the ceremony. If all grades have been submitted and you have no financial obligation to the College, your diploma will be mailed within two weeks after graduation. Students will be ushered to the stage alphabetically by program of study. You will receive a name card at check-in that will be handed to the program reader on the stage.
Financial obligations to the College must be satisfied before your diploma will be released. Please contact Student Accounts at 402-437-2669 for questions concerning your account.
Graduates who chose not to participate in the commencement ceremony will receive their diploma by mail within 1-2 weeks. Diplomas will be mailed to the address on the graduation application.

Phi Theta Kappa members are eligible to wear stoles. Please contact Rachel Mason, the PTK advisor at 402 437-2630, or in the Student Center by May 22 for more information. Stoles for PTK members will not be available the day of graduation.
Kappa Beta Delta members, please contact the Business Division in U4 (402-437-2610) to purchase stoles and tassels or purchase items on the ACBSP website.
Students graduating with distinction and high distinction will be provided an honor cord when they check in for the ceremony.
Our graduates who are veterans or active military will receive a red, white and blue honor cord to be worn during the commencement ceremony. These can be picked up when you pick up your cap and gown or at check-in for the ceremony.
Graduates who need accommodations, please contact Lori Vancura by May 23 or before, to allow time to establish reasonable accommodations.
We will rent your gowns for you if you don’t have them – this is for ALL SCC employees (faculty & staff) who want to attend the ceremony. If you plan to attend graduation in June and are in need of a gown, please email Lori Vancura with the following information by Friday, April 14th:
If you have your own regalia and plan to attend graduation, please email your name to Lori Vancura. We will need to have enough chairs reserved for the faculty & staff.
CHANGE IN PLANS
Please contact the Registration and Records Office (402-437-2604) as soon as you determine you are unable to complete your academic requirements for graduation or if you have changed your plans to attend the commencement ceremony.
Congratulations on your achievement! The College is proud of your accomplishments and we want the graduation ceremony to be one you and your family will remember. Your degree will be mailed to the address listed on the graduation application unless you have a financial obligation to the College. If you have questions regarding these areas, contact the Business Office. The College reserves the right to exclude graduates from participation in the ceremony for inappropriate behavior.
All students who have applied for graduation are required to pay a $25 non-refundable graduation fee when you turn in the form. If you have an outstanding bill with the college, you will not receive your degree. Contact the Business Office at 402-761-8230 if you have questions.

Gowns are shipped folded and it is recommended that you try them on and hang up as soon as you receive them. If your gown is the wrong size for you, stop by the Registrar’s Office and we will find one that fits. You may keep your cap, gown and tassel.
Meet in the Game Room in the Welsh Center door no later than 6:15 p.m.. Be in your cap and gown and line up alphabetically, by program, no later than 6:20 p.m.. In case of inclement weather, we will meet in the game room in the Welsh Center. The east line will enter the gym floor from the south door and the west line will enter the gym from the north door.
When the processional starts, north and south leaders will meet and walk down the center aisle behind the instructors. The north line files into the first full row of chairs on the north side. The south line files into the first full row of chairs on the south side. Please walk to the far end of the row and fill all seats. Do not leave any seats vacant. Graduates will wear the graduation caps during the commencement address.
Graduates will be called to the stage by programs. All will wear caps, tassel to the RIGHT SIDE of the cap. Accept the degree with the left hand; shake right hands with the board member presenting your degree. Proceed to the north side of the stage and stand as a group until everyone from your class has received their degree. If your program is large, make two or three lines on the north side of the stage. If you qualify for graduate with distinction or graduate with high distinction, you will receive your certificate right after your receive your degree from the board member. Leave the stage as a group and return to your seat on the gym floor. When all of the graduates have returned to the chairs, sit down as a group.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, as the music begins, the instructors will stand and lead the recessional. Row one will begin to walk down the center aisle to the back of the gym followed by rows 2, 3, 4, etc.
When you receive your degree Lifetouch Special Events will take your picture. Proofs can be found online at www.events.lifetouch.com 10 days after the ceremony. You may order any photographs at that website, just follow the instructions. If you have questions, call Lifetouch at 800-244-4312.
The gym will be open at 5:30 p.m. for your guests. If you have a guest who needs assistance, a wheelchair accessible entrance is available at the east entrance of the Welsh.
