Welcome to the Great Plains Culinary Institute at Southeast Community College, Lincoln, Nebraska.
The Great Plains Culinary Institute at SCC includes ACF Certified Chef Instructors and has their program is accredited by The American Culinary Federation Education Foundation. It was part of a $4.2 million expansion at SCC and held it’s ribbon cutting in Spring 2018.
New, state-of-the-art learning spaces and a working restaurant await students who want to take their passion for food and turn it into a work of art that will be appreciated using multiple senses.

The three focus areas (Baking/Pastry, Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management) in SCC's Culinary/Hospitality program provide students with a variety of options within the industry. Students in the Culinary Arts focus will be certified Culinarians with the American Culinary Federation upon graduation from our program.
Dietary Manager graduates manage food service operations and ensure food safety in non-commercial organizations such as hospitals, schools, long-term care and correctional facilities.
The restaurant, Course, is open to the public. In addition, banquet dinners are scheduled on select evenings.
Course is unique because the view to the kitchen is open, so guests are part of the learning environment and can see the education happening. Students are preparing and serving guests during class time.
In Fall 2019, Great Plains Culinary Institute added a new space for Course Ground Coffee. The space is located in room O-4 between the Welcome Center and the Student Activities Center on the Lincoln Campus. The space is being used for retail baking items from classes, barista training and coffee roasting and adds relevant content to the program and for the industry and College.
