Joe Sajevic

  • SENCAP-Web-Portrait_JoeSJoe Sajevic was born and raised in Kearney, NE, the son of two teachers. He was involved as an high school educator for 36 years, having taught biology, math and Science for 23 of those years, as well as coaching, at Bertrand Community Schools, Archbishop Bergan High School and Hastings Senior High School. He then went into administration as an Assistant Principal at Hastings High for 2 years and then as the Principal at Fremont High School for his final 11 years. A graduate of Kearney High School, Joe completed his undergraduate work with a B.S. in Biology Education from Kearney State College. He also obtained his M. A. in Secondary Administration from UNK, in addition to most of the hours needed for his Educational Specialist degree.

    Joe supervised Student Teachers for five years for UNO and served as a liaison for supervisors with the Teacher Education Department at UNO. He also served as the Executive Director of the Fremont Public School Foundation for 6 years and is in his sixth year as the Northern Coordinator for Southeast Community College’s High School Career Academy program.

    Active in community affairs, Joe is a member of the Fremont Chamber of Commerce, including serving on the Executive Board as Chair of the Education and Business Development Committee. Joe also served on the Chamber of Commerce School to Career Advisory Board, a joint Chamber of Commerce and School initiative to give HS juniors and seniors career exploration experiences and Leadership Fremont where he was the chair for the Education Day. He also served two terms on the Board of Directors for the Fremont Area United Way. He is currently serving on the Fremont Area Community Foundation Executive Board and is chair of the Administrative Committee. Joe is a member of the Fremont Rotary Club, having been the Service Projects chairman. He is also a Paul Harris member.

    Joe and his wife Nancy have been married for 49+ years, have 3 married daughters, Jill, Jenny and Julie and is the proud grandfather to 8 grandchildren. He enjoys hunting, golfing, fishing, observing all levels of athletics and family time.
