Important information about
the SCC Music and Theatre Scholarship
This tuition/remission scholarship was established to show strong support of our music and theatre programs and to encourage talented and committed music and theatre students to participate in choir or theatre for a season. This scholarship will pay for three-fourths tuition for up to 25 music and/or theatre students who commit to give their best to classes and performances for three consecutive quarters (Fall, Winter and Spring).
Scholarship criteria:
- The
scholarship will be awarded in three quarterly installments of up to $500
each. (deposited into the student’s account)
- The
scholarship will pay for approximately 9 credit hours per
quarter.
- Recipients are
required to maintain full-time status (at least 12 hours/quarter),
be in good academic standing during the quarters they are awarded
the scholarship, and agree to participate fully. This includes
attending rehearsals, participating in performances, learning and
memorizing music and lines, and purchasing required dress clothing for performances for the entire season (October through June).
- Scholarship
recipients must be enrolled in a Southeast Community College
Program of Study and agree to make their rehearsals and performances a top priority.
- Students are
further required to maintain a C+ cumulative grade-point average in
order to continue to receive the scholarship.
- Students who
successfully fulfill their scholarship responsibilities may
re-apply for a second year.
Failure to comply with any of these rules will result in
appropriate disciplinary action, up to and including the loss of
scholarship funding for one or both of the remaining quarters.
Determinations will be made by the music director, Humanities
Department co-chairs, and the dean of the Arts and Sciences
Division, in collaboration with the offices of Financial Aid and
Student Services.
We encourage interested and qualified students to apply for this
scholarship early since awards will be made on a first-come,
first-served basis.
