Since 1961, students at
Southeast Community College’s Milford Campus build houses from the ground up
and auction them off to a winning bidder. The 110th house was sold
for $88,000 to Christopher and Mary Sowers of Denton.
Students from three programs
take part in constructing the house: Building Construction Technology;
Electrical Technology and Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and
Refrigeration Technology.
Larsen & Associates of
Cordova auctioned off the house, as they have since the beginning.
“The four generations of
their family who have auctioned this home since 1961 has been one of the
longest college-industry partnerships in SCC history,” said Ron Petsch, program
chair.
The house was constructed over
a 50-day period. The Sowers family will move it to Crete. For more information
on the house, please contact Petsch at 402-761-8213 or rpetsch@southeast.edu.
