Robert J. Feit, who has served as a member of the Southeast Community College Board of Governors since November 1997, submitted his resignation Tuesday during the Board's regular monthly meeting.

His resignation was effective at the end of Tuesday's meeting.

Feit and his wife Mary currently live in Pickrell but plan to move to Lincoln in the near future. Pickrell is in District 1 of SCC. Moving to Lincoln will take Feit out of that district.

"I've really enjoyed working with all of you," Feit told fellow Board members. "I'm sorry to go."

Feit's term expires in December 2016. The Fairbury Junior College graduate and alumnus of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln served as chairperson and has been a part of several Board teams throughout his time.

Feit was involved in numerous activities in Beatrice. He is retired from the Beatrice Board of Public Works as director of administrative services. He worked for Store Kraft Mfg. as general accounting manager. He also worked for Goodyear Tire as a cost accountant and assembler/COBOL programmer. And he was a partner in F & S Electric.

Feit also got heavily involved in the Association of Community College Trustees. He is ACCT's Western Region chair and is a Board member and former chair of the Nebraska Community College Association. He received the NCCA's Distinguished Alumni Award and the Distinguished Alumni Award presented by SCC's Beatrice Campus.

Feit's community involvement also has been extensive, including being a member of the Pickrell Village Board, website administrator for the Pickrell Community Players, co-founded the Beatrice Children's Theatre, and is a member of the Pickrell United Methodist Church.

Feit also is a U.S. Navy and Vietnam veteran.

Feit was appointed to the SCC Board in 1997, then was elected four times.

The Board's legal counsel, Neal Stenberg, outlined some options to fill Feit's vacancy. After some discussion the Board decided that it would accept applications and have the Board's Executive Team narrow the list of finalists.
