Around 150 meals
were distributed to students in need at Southeast Community College campuses in
Beatrice, Lincoln and Milford. Volunteers presented the meals to recipients who
drove by designated areas. The food was donated by SCC faculty, staff and
students.
All three campuses have food
pantries for students in need. In addition to food, personal hygiene items also
were donated and distributed. There is always a need for donations, especially
this time of year, said Kevin Forch, SCC’s Director of Student Development
& Engagement.
“We still have about 700
non-perishable food and hygiene items in the Lincoln Campus Food Pantry at the
moment,” Forch said. “We will always take easy-to-make items like pasta, rice,
soup, beans, canned fruits and vegetables, cereal, oatmeal, peanut butter,
applesauce, and fruit cups. We also get a lot of requests for soap, shampoo,
toothpaste/toothbrushes, and sanitary items.”
Food and personal hygiene
items can be dropped off at each campus’s food pantry location. Monetary
donations can be made through the SCC Foundation at https://www.southeast.edu/scc-food-pantry/
