A handful of Southeast
Community College employees were recognized for their performance in and around
the classroom during a ceremony Thursday on the Milford Campus. The Farmers
& Merchants Bank of Milford presented plaques and $400 checks to three
outstanding employees.
“I like to honor the people
that do the hard work with little recognition,” said Gerry Dunlap,
Chairman/President of Farmers & Merchants Bank in Milford.
Jerry Kumke, Automotive
Technology instructor, and Dale Lawver, John Deere Technology instructor,
received the Outstanding Faculty awards.
“I’m honored,” Kumke said,
“to know that you’ve made your students’ lives better. It’s really about them
and not me.”
Kumke has worked in the
Automotive Technology program for nine years. Lawver has worked in the John
Deere Technology program for 18 years.
“This award is
acknowledgement of the hard work that goes into keeping the program going,” he
said.
Jim Hamilton, a custodian for
34 years on the Milford Campus, received the Outstanding Staff Award. He is
matching the $400 scholarship and opening up a scholarship for students at SCC.
“It’s a good place to work
with a lot of nice people,” Hamilton said. “I enjoy working with the faculty,
staff and students and seeing a lot get accomplished.”
Two employees, Clark Rediger
and Marcia Van Andel, received the 25-year recognition award as well.
The Farmers & Merchants
Bank has been sponsoring this event since 1983.
