Two employees on the Lincoln
Campus of Southeast Community College were honored July 10 as recipients of the
Wekesser Outstanding Teacher and Staff awards.
Dan Zabel, recently retired
Welding Technology instructor, and Geriann Rada, director of the Transitions
Lab at SCC, received the awards during a ceremony.
Zabel has worked in the
Welding Technology program in Milford and Lincoln for the past 35 years. He was
an instructor and co-program chair before he retired last month. He plans to
continue working part-time at The Career Academy this fall.
“I’ve worked with outstanding
faculty over the years and some outstanding students,” Zabel said. “I’ve made
good friends and worked with a great staff at SCC.”
Rada and her advisors help
students improve test scores and help with their studies. She started as an
advisor in 2012 and worked her way up to director in 2016.
“My ultimate goal is to serve
the students and figure out what their needs are so they can succeed and get a
degree,” she said.
In 1979, Robert and Edith
Wekesser established a fund in SCC’s Educational Foundation to recognize people
for outstanding service to the Lincoln Campus. Winners each receive $500, a
plaque and a balloon bouquet.
