Two employees on the Lincoln
Campus of Southeast Community College were honored Aug. 19 as recipients of the
2017-2018 Wekesser Outstanding Teacher and Staff awards.
Jodi Nelson, Associate Degree
nursing instructor, and Mindy Marsh, admissions technician for Student Affairs,
received the awards during an all-campus ceremony.
Nelson was nominated by
fellow co-workers for her involvement with nursing students and mentoring them
during their time at SCC.
“Jodi is a team player, and
she is there for the student and encourages them to learn and grow,” said Kasey
Edwardson, fellow nursing faculty. “She is one faculty member who has made me
feel welcomed in our division and College.”
Marsh has worked in various
roles in SCC’s Admissions Office for close to 20 years.
“Mindy is driven,
student-focused and goes the extra mile each and every day,” said Kaye
Bartels-Eiland, admissions representative. “She truly believes in an education from
SCC and the community we have established at the College over the years.”
In 1979, Robert and Edith
Wekesser established a fund in SCC’s Educational Foundation to recognize people
for outstanding service to the Lincoln Campus. Winners each receive $500, a
plaque and a balloon bouquet.
