Southeast Community College Respiratory Care student, DeJohn Garrison, was recently awarded with the Caring
Kind Award at CHI Health Lakeside in Omaha. Garrison was nominated by his
manager at CHI Health where he’s a respiratory therapy assistant, for going above
and beyond the call of duty to demonstrate compassion for patients, cooperation
with co-workers and dedication to excellence in their job responsibilities.
“I
was really shocked to find out I won this award because I didn’t think I was
doing anything out of the ordinary,” Garrison said. “But people do notice when
you’re working hard and don’t mind helping out and they also pay attention to
your body language when doing things. It feels weird and good to be recognized
in this way and to share the event with other healthcare workers across
Nebraska.”
Since 1979, The Nebraska Health
Association has paid tribute to Nebraska’s most caring and dedicated healthcare
employees by presenting them with the Caring Kind award.
