Southeast Community College’s
Dr. Carolee Ritter received the 2022 Nebraska Community College Association
Outstanding Administrator Award Nov. 6 during the NCCA’s Annual Conference in
Grand Island.
“I am filled
with gratitude for this recognition,” Ritter said. “I believe very strongly in
our community college mission, so it is deeply meaningful to me to be
recognized for my work in its service. Truly, though, it is the tireless efforts
of the associate deans, directors, department chairs, and other faculty and
staff in the Arts and Sciences Division that make it all happen. I just try to
support them and create the conditions that make their great work possible.”
Ritter has been at SCC since
1999 when she started as an English faculty member. She received the NCCA
Outstanding Faculty Award in 2006 and has served as dean of Arts & Sciences
since 2014. Dr. Joel Michaelis, vice president of instruction, nominated Ritter
for the Administrator Award.
“Dr. Ritter is an outstanding
community college administrator who has served SCC with integrity and
dedication to the needs of the diverse students and communities we serve,” Michaelis
said. “Her commitment and dedication to student and faculty success, alike, as
well as her tireless efforts to improve the instructional environment at SCC,
are just a few reasons I nominated her for this award.”
The NCCA is comprised of five
member schools: Central, Mid-Plains, Northeast, Southeast, and Western
Nebraska. Each year the NCCA holds its annual meeting at one of the member
schools and awards Faculty, Governor, Administrator, and Friend of the year
awards, along with a Distinguished Alumni Award.
